POSITION SUMMARY
The Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program and the Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) program are cultural exchange programs sponsored by the United States Department of State. Through these programs, high school students spend one academic year in the U.S. living with host families and attending high schools. When FLEX/YES students return to their home countries as alumni, they are provided with many opportunities to support their personal, professional, and community development. American Councils for International Education implements alumni programming in 29 countries.
Based out of a YES program country in Southeast Europe (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, or North Macedonia), the Secondary School Alumni Program Assistant coordinates key aspects of YES alumni program administration, including 20th anniversary programming, alumni workshops and trainings, and alumni grant opportunities.
The Secondary School Alumni Programs Assistant is supervised by the Assistant Program Manager for Secondary School Alumni Programs and supported by local American Councils staff. The contracted position would be full-time through October 2024, with the possibility of extension.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
The Secondary School Alumni Program Assistant will support YES alumni programming as described below.
- Assist with YES 20th Anniversary programming, including but not limited to:
- Supporting and arranging logistics for alumni events and celebrations
- Serving as a point of contact with YES partners for AIS database updates
- Coordinate logistics and aspects of programming for alumni workshops and trainings
- Support YES Alumni Grants and follow-on workshop grants by:
- Assisting with application review, selection, follow-up, and notification
- Organizing and supporting trainings and orientations for grantees
- Tracking and reviewing grant reports and completing financial audits
- Assisting with website stories and social media posts about grant projects
- Compile monthly alumni activity highlights for program funder
- Assist with the Alumni Coordinator Training Conference, as needed
- Manage the development of YES Appreciation Day cards and promotion of the annual celebration
- Other tasks as assigned
- BA or equivalent required; advanced degree preferred
- Minimum two years work experience
- English language proficiency
- Demonstrated organizational ability, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of the FLEX, YES, ECA and U.S. Department of State Exchange programs and the program regions preferred
- Advanced MS Office skills
CONDITIONS AND BENEFITS
