The Cultivation Director will be responsible for overseeing plant health, growth strategy, environmental conditions, and training on cultivation-related activities.Tasks
- Work alongside the Production Manager to prepare production schedules and coordinate labour assignments
- Responsible for plant health throughout the facility
- Perform in-person checks on all cultivation rooms on a daily basis
- Provide weekly updates on plant health and performance
- Manage all environmental parameters for grow rooms and manage the environmental and irrigation control systems
- Respond to facility alarms around the clock
- Oversee irrigation and nutrient needs for the plants, honing fertilizer recipes
- Develop and maintain protocols for lighting, temperature and humidity manipulation and irrigation controls
- Lead the development of IPM strategy
- Develop and implement training programs around plant operations and crop work
- Oversee the performance of regular crop work duties, including, but not limited to: cutting, cloning, culling, defoliating, thinning out, trimming, and pruning
- Assist in the development and revision of departmental SOP’s
- Ensure all SOPs are followed and ensure strict crop hygiene and environmental practices are followed and enforced at all times
- Audit cultivation-related documents for completion prior to review by quality assurance
- Participate in the development and maintenance of operational plant programs to ensure quality and compliance, working cross-departmentally (i.e. Sanitation, Maintenance, QA)
- Oversee inventory control and purchasing approval for cultivation-related purchases
- Assist in the development of departmental budget
- Any other cultivation and management-related duties as requested
- Must have completed a Horticulture Certificate or Diploma
- Must have a minimum of 3 years work experience in a supervisory role and 5 years work experience in horticulture (2 of these years must involve hands-on experience with cannabis)
- Must have completed a Pesticide Applicators Course
- Must have extensive experience with environmental control systems (i.e. Priva, Argus)
- Proven ability to effectively use Microsoft Office Applications
- Strong inventory and production management skills
- Must possess excellent communication skills
- Highly capable of multi-tasking, with minimal supervision
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule (Monday to Friday, including weekend check ups on plants)
- Experience using ERP or cannabis manufacturing software strongly preferred
- Experience working in a highly regulated environment strongly preferred
- Advanced knowledge of cannabis plant and genetics strongly preferred
