1. Coordinates with the department’s Electrician to develop the department’s strategy and technical aspects.
2. Researches new technologies that may potentially increase the group’s competitive advantage.
3. Creates a timeline for the deployment of VPM devices onboard.
4. Travels abroad and attends the vessels to install the new VPM system.
5. Monitors system infrastructure to ensure it is functioning and working properly.
6. Monitors the relevant devices performance and reduces the risk of machinery malfunctions.
7. Prepares and implements a recovery plan in the event of machinery failure
8. Completes any other relevant assignments, as requested by the VPM Manager.
1. Bachelor’s degree in the fields of Electronics or Automation Engineering or in a relevant field.
2. Post-graduate degree in the fields of Industrial automation, Data Acquisition and/or in a relevant discipline will be considered an asset.
3. Minimum 4 years of working experience at a relevant department of a shipping company.
4. Experience in interfacing with Serial bus Communication Protocols (RS485, Modbus, Canbus), point-to-point Serial Protocols (RS 232, RS 422).
5. Extensive knowledge of Data Acquisition Hardware, Software and Practices.
6. Experience with A/D conversion and interfacing with Analog Signals.
7. Experience in MS Windows Server and MS SQL Server (Setup & Administration).
8. Knowledge of Programming Languages (Visual Studio or WinDev) will be considered an asset.
9. Fluency in English.
10. Availability to travel frequently for extensive periods and on short notice.
11. Excellent communication skills, results-orientation and effective under pressure.
